Going to school on the east coast allows for a multitude of job options. It can be somewhat difficult to choose from all of the career options for you. You should attempt to utilize all of the available resources while trying to decide your future career.

Your counselor may be able to recommend a few tests like the Myers-Briggs to help you consider your skills and your personality traits and what career field they might fit best into. The availability of the job you decide on will be elaborated on by the counselor. Also the counselor will be able to discuss what sort of training and schooling is required for this occupation.

If you decide on an occupation that is going to require schooling, you should begin looking into college options. If college is in the picture, you will need to start the application process. You should start by signing up for the SAT and ACT. These tests will be important for acceptance into the schools you will need to achieve the degree for the career you want. You should also remember to look into multiple schools when applying.

You will need to consider training if the occupation you choose does not need a college education. Talk to the counselor about possible training opportunities. Depending on what the career is, you may need to look into some vocational schooling after high school to make sure you have the proper skill set before entering the work force. Also, doing some sort of training program or vocational schooling is a smart way to network, which will allow you to meet professionals in the field and possibly get a possible start with a company. To find local programs for training, you should talk to the counselor.

It can be quite difficult to find a good career fit. When finding a perfect career; it can include some difficult decisions. It can be really difficult to find a job that is perfect right away. Trying multiple jobs is pretty common. You will probably have to sacrifice a few jobs before finding the perfect one. It is very rare that you will find a job you plan to stay with forever on the first try.
