The new Flip Mino HD will surely delight those who had fun using its predecessors. Although the new device is not very different from the earlier versions, there are certain new features that make the new version more worthy.

The pocket camera looks slim, in fact, almost 1.5 inches slimmer than the previous model. Its stunning metal body makes it a sight to behold. Further, the new model is more comfortable to hold even with one hand because of the soft rounded edges. This is a refreshing change from the sharp-edged plastic body of the earlier models.

The bigger and sharper new screen is 2 inches wide and has a video resolution of 1280 x 720. However, the best feature of the new Mino HD is its internal memory capacity. It is now 8 GB, which is two times that of the earlier models. Moreover, you can now watch videos for continuously two hours instead of one hour. As the company Flip has been acquired by Cisco, some drastic changes have happened in almost everything. The superior features of the new model are a sure shot sign of the same. The processor is faster too.

You can now even share your videos because of the HDMI port, a new feature of this model. Although this port was there in the earlier models, it was covered with an ugly-looking cap. Now there is a small switch that needs to be pressed to swing it open and close. Smart eh! The sad part is that the new model does not come with a HDMI cable. You need to buy the cable separately.

However, some features are exactly the same as they were in the older models. The lens, sensor and the ‘too sensitive’ touch pads that keep getting activated when accidentally touched, are all exactly the same as those of the earlier version. These features are very infuriating. The sensor is fine for close up shots in perfect lighting. When the light is low, the result is hazy. The camera does not have optical zoom so one cannot take stills.

The new Flip Mino HD is undoubtedly one of the simplest easy-to-use cameras available for recording videos. Plus, it suits your wallet too. The Kodak models are superior yet you cannot just ignore the Flip. However, in order to survive the intense competition provided by smart phones and ipod nano, both of which are known for their excellent performance, the Flip has to get rid of its flaws soon.
