Additionally, the US does not currently offer government subsidies for cable high speed connections or mandate lower profit margins for telecom companies, which keep the prices high.

Similarly, a T-1 connection is commonly used for business internet services, which runs at 1.544 mbps, although the prices start as low as $345 and go all the way up to $1,500.
