You can say whatever you want about Windows Vista but one thing is for sure, its not fast, In fact, it’s slow. If you want great performance with Windows Vista you will need a new and powerful computer. I guess you are not running to the store to buy a new computer, so read this and maybe you can find a few tips on how to make Windows Vista a bit faster. The change can vary from 5% on new and strong computers to 10-25% on older machines.
Ok, lets start
1. Use Windows XP…
Sad but true. The best way to get the most out of your computer is to Remove Vista and go back to Windows XP. If you insist on using Windows Vista I suggest upgrading to at least 2GB of RAM .

2. Updates, Updates, Updates…
The biggest improvement to Windows Vista came after all updates have been installed, especially SP1. Most Laptops come today with a special tool created by the manufacturer, and it is recommended to use it. Pay close attention to the Nvidia driver, the older versions tend to slow Windows Vista down.
|
3. Power Management
If you are using a laptop, pay attention to the three different power management states Windows Vista has: High Performance, Power Saver and Balanced. I believe you have a hint how anyone of them influences Windows Vista performance. You can change these definitions from the Control Panel or from the Battery Icon in the task bar. The default is Balanced - even when you are plugged in!
|
4. Use ReadyBoost
ReadyBoost can boost your system RAM by using a USB flash drive. you will get a noticeable improvement only if You have less that 1GB RAM or Your USB flash drive is rather new and extremely fast.
|

- Show windows content while dragging
- Smooth edges of screen fonts

|
